五、讲座内容简介：

It is an agreeable statement that learning a foreign language requires a good environment. How can we create such an optimal environment is a puzzle. This talk addresses new understandings of learning as they apply to second language instruction and education in general, namely "embodied learning", "joint coordinated action" and "distributed approaches to instruction". The talk will have two main parts: one strand being current literature in designing second language learning curriculum enhanced by Computer-Supported Learning Environments, Activity Theory, Project-Based Learning, Place-Based Learning, Art-Based Learning, Distributed Cognition; the other being literature related to theories addressing relational dynamics between first-order languaging and prescriptions of lexico-grammar aspects of language, learners and teachers, human and technology, enhanced by the new wave of instructional and language sciences, namely the relationships and differences between learning tasks, activities, projects and learning environments. At the end of the talk, participants should be equipped with cutting-edge understandings of theory and practice and able to put them into practice by way of designing and implementing practical class activities and learning tasks that can be embedded in projects and learning environments and organized into a coherent curriculum unit. It should be suitable for in-person or on-line learning environments.

六、主讲人简介：

郑东萍博士，于2006年获得University of Connecticut教育心理学博士。现任University of Hawaii, The Department of Second Language Studies副教授。主要研究应用生态心理学，对话学，分布认知及语言来扩张以人为中心的传统二语习得理论。 具体课题研究包括虚拟游戏空间环境对语言认知的影响，和以移动无限通讯技术为平台的游戏设计对扩展认知与学习空间，以及社会文化参与于认知的潜能的影响。
